New Zealand stocks climbed 27 points, or 0.2%, to close at 13,819 on Wednesday, ending losses from the previous two sessions. Gains in financials, utilities and communication services supported the market, while Tuesday’s Moody’s report that the economic recovery is underway continued to bolster sentiment despite unresolved issues. A weaker Wall Street session limited the advance as rising oil prices amid the escalating Middle East conflict heightened inflation concerns and increased bets on central-bank interest-rate increases. Fresh data from China, New Zealand’s top trading partner, also capped gains as consumer and producer price pressures continued to rise amid higher oil prices. Sanford, Mercury NZ, Contact Energy, Mainfreight, Infratil, ANZ Group, Delegat Group and A2 Milk were among the leading advancers.
