South Korean companies and organizations spent 551.6 billion Korean won on corporate cards at entertainment establishments in 2025, accounting for 0.3% of total corporate card spending of 204.66 trillion won. More than half of the spending, 302.6 billion won, went to high-end hostess bars known locally as room salons. The figures, based on National Tax Service and Credit Finance Association data obtained by Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Moon Jin-seok, show that spending at such venues totaled 2.9878 trillion won from 2020 through 2025. Spending fell from 439.8 billion won in 2020 to 212 billion won in 2021 before rising to 563.8 billion won in 2022 and 624.4 billion won in 2023. It then declined for two consecutive years, reaching 596.2 billion won in 2024 and 551.6 billion won in 2025. Moon said the figures showed that entertainment-related corporate spending remains prevalent and called for continued tax-authority monitoring. Corporate card spending at golf courses was 1.9726 trillion won in 2025, down 4.2% from the previous year but near 2 trillion won annually since 2021; some of that spending is believed to be entertainment-related.
