The Nikkei 225 Index rose 0.6% to above 65,600 on Wednesday, while the broader Topix Index gained 0.4% to 4,066, reversing losses from the previous session. Technology stocks led the recovery, with investors also encouraged by private-sector data showing Japanese manufacturers’ sentiment improved for a second consecutive month in September. The improvement was supported by firm demand for semiconductors and data centers. Rising oil prices continued to raise inflation concerns and bolster expectations for higher interest rates, while the yen reached its strongest level in nearly seven months. SoftBank Group, Fujikura, Lasertec, Ibiden Co and Furukawa Electric posted notable gains.
