The Korea Exchange will suspend all overnight derivatives trading from 6 p.m. on the 23rd of this month until 6 a.m. on the 24th, immediately before the Chuseok holiday. The measure is designed to reduce the risk of settlement failures and sharp price moves while the regular market is closed for an extended period. Overnight trades are cleared with the following regular session, meaning trades placed on the 23rd would otherwise have remained open until clearing alongside regular trading on the 28th. The suspension applies to KOSPI 200, Mini KOSPI 200 and KOSDAQ 150 futures and options, as well as U.S. dollar futures and three-year and 10-year government bond futures. KRX has used the measure ahead of traditional holidays since launching its own overnight derivatives session in June last year. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing and the Taiwan Futures Exchange also suspend overnight sessions before extended holidays.
