Gaon Cable, a subsidiary of LS Cable & System, entered Canada’s public electricity-grid market for the first time by supplying medium-voltage cables to a major public utility in western Canada. The order expands the Korean cable-maker’s North American customer base beyond private industrial projects, including artificial intelligence data centers and semiconductor plants. Canada is promoting artificial intelligence data centers and advanced manufacturing, while electricity demand is projected to double from current levels by 2050, supporting investment in distribution infrastructure. Gaon Cable is also expanding medium-voltage cable and bus duct sales to U.S. technology companies through its local unit, LSCUS. With its Tarboro medium-voltage cable plant operating near full capacity and cumulative long-term bus duct contracts exceeding 5 trillion won, the company expects North American revenue to reach $470 million, or about 630 billion won, this year, more than 50% above the previous year. Chief Executive Jung Hyun said the Canadian public-sector order provides a reference for further regional sales.
