Gemini Digital Payments Singapore received a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore on September 8, completing a licensing process that began with in-principle approval in October 2024. The local entity can provide digital payment token services and cross-border money transfers without the transaction-volume limits applied to standard payment institutions. Gemini transferred Singapore customers from Gemini Trust Company to its locally incorporated entity in April 2025 as it aligned operations with MAS requirements. The exchange has served Singapore customers since 2020 and offers spot cryptocurrency trading, custody and over-the-counter services to retail and institutional clients. The MPI approval requires ongoing compliance with Singapore rules on customer protection, financial crime and operational controls, but does not guarantee Gemini's products or shield customers from market losses. Gemini has not announced changes to its local services following the authorization.
