Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced on the 9th that it will operate the four-week AWS Space Accelerator: Korea 2026 with the Korea AeroSpace Administration and MegazoneCloud. The program targets South Korean startups from early stage through pre-Series B developing AWS-based systems across satellite manufacturing and operations, Earth observation, launch vehicles, orbital services, space communications, space AI and space software. Selected companies will receive up to $100,000, approximately 130 million Korean won, in cloud credits, as well as AWS technology, AI resources, hands-on labs, technical mentoring, business coaching, AWS Activate support, access to the global Space Accelerator alumni network and meetings with venture capital firms and corporate customers. The Korea AeroSpace Administration will identify promising startups, MegazoneCloud will lead operational support and technical capacity building, and Company K Partners will provide investment strategy coaching. Participants will present their results and business models to space agencies, investors and industry stakeholders at a pitch day in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, with support from Jeju Province for connections to regional space programs. The initiative comes as South Korea shifts from government-led space research and development toward a private-sector-centered ecosystem. The Korea AeroSpace Administration says next year's proposed space and aerospace budget is 1.65 trillion won, up 47% from this year, for launch infrastructure, lunar exploration, advanced satellites, future aviation and private-sector industry foundations. AWS launched its global Space Accelerator in 2021 and has operated it in the United States, Australia, India, Japan and other markets.
