UK-based manufacturing software startup CloudNC has raised $20 million in a B extension round, taking its lifetime funding to $128 million. The company sells CAM Assist, software that uses artificial intelligence to help machinists and computer-aided manufacturing programmers plan CNC (computer-controlled machining) operations inside systems such as Autodesk Fusion and Mastercam. CAM Assist recommends tools, approach directions, cutting feeds and speeds, and drafts machine code, while users review, edit and approve the result. More than 1,000 machine shops worldwide use the software, and 80% of CloudNC's customer base is in the U.S. The company, founded in 2015 by Theo Saville and Chris Emery, has 80 employees and is focused on scaling adoption. The funding will support go-to-market operations, expansion in existing and new markets, and development of Quote Agent, a product designed to help manufacturers assess the cost and risk of prospective work. Quote Agent is set to launch next month.
