Norway’s August producer price index, including oil, rose 30.1% from a year earlier, accelerating from 23.4% in July and reaching its highest level since September 2022. The increase was broad-based: prices for oil and natural gas extraction rose 52.1%, manufacturing prices gained 7.9%, electricity, gas and steam increased 57.9%, and energy goods climbed 53.2%. Excluding energy goods, producer-price growth edged up to 5.4% from 5.3%. Domestic-market prices rose 11.9%, while export-market prices increased 41.4%. Monthly growth eased to 4.7% from July’s four-month high of 8.9%. Prediction-market pricing for crude reaching a new all-time high by September 30 rose to 1.7% from 1%, while the December 31 market showed 11% YES pricing. Norway’s energy sector, OPEC decisions and geopolitical developments remain factors for oil-price scenarios.
