SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won will accept up to 700 billion won ($523.9 million) of the 944 billion-won property division award ordered for Roh Soh-yeong, director of the Art Center Nabi, while challenging the remaining 244 billion won. His legal team submitted a petition to reduce the scope of appeal to the Seoul High Court on Sept. 9, seeking a Supreme Court ruling only on the disputed portion. The retrial court ruled on July 24 that Roh was entitled to 33.3% of the couple’s joint property, citing her role in childcare and household duties over more than 30 years and her participation in SK Group’s external activities. Chey’s side disputes that assessment, including the treatment of a 30 billion-won fund linked to late former President Roh Tae-woo and the impact of SK Inc.’s share-price gains during the litigation. Roh’s side did not file a re-appeal by Aug. 14 but may submit a cross-appeal, and the case has not yet been filed with the Supreme Court.
