European stocks and U.S. stock futures edged higher after a selloff as investors awaited the European Central Bank’s widely expected 25-basis-point rate increase, monitored Middle East tensions and assessed the inflation impact of Brent crude above $100 a barrel. The STOXX 600 and STOXX 50 each gained about 0.2%, while Dow futures rose 0.4%, S&P 500 futures 0.2% and Nasdaq 100 futures 0.1% by 03:02 ET (07:02 GMT). The ECB was expected to lift its deposit rate to 2.50%, with investors focused on Christine Lagarde’s guidance, updated inflation projections and whether the move would be an insurance hike or the start of further tightening. Higher energy prices and bond yields, including a 4.84% 10-year U.S. Treasury yield and Bund yields at their highest level in about 15 years, intensified concerns about inflation, growth and financial conditions.
