Argentina’s corn exports are expected to exceed 10 million metric tons in August and September, a record more than triple the typical volume for those months. The surge is being supported by a government-estimated 71.7 million-ton 2025/26 harvest, disrupted Ukrainian shipments and crop damage from extreme European heat. Argentine corn shipments to North Africa rose 45% year over year to 6.5 million tons in the first seven months of 2026, led by Morocco, Egypt and Algeria. Argentina is also benefiting from Brazil’s declining exports as the country’s expanding ethanol industry absorbs more domestic corn. The USDA forecasts Argentina’s 2025/26 production at 63 million tons and exports at 45 million tons, while warning that export growth could retreat in 2027. The outlook depends partly on Ukraine’s access to Black Sea ports, European weather and Brazil’s ethanol demand.
