David Sacks called for Anthropic’s initial public offering to be paused until allegations by former researcher Jacob Coxon are investigated. Coxon, who conducted pre-training research at OpenAI and Anthropic, accused both companies of racing toward self-improving superintelligence without adequate safeguards. Polymarket traders cut the implied probability of an Anthropic IPO by October 15, 2026, to 6%, down 51% in a week, while the probability of a listing by October 31 fell 29% to 60%. Reuters previously reported that Anthropic could begin an IPO roadshow as early as mid-October and seek to list before the November U.S. midterm elections. The company has not confirmed its timetable, offering size or valuation, which backers have reportedly discussed at nearly $2 trillion, compared with a latest private valuation of about $965 billion after a $65 billion financing. Anthropic’s annualized revenue reached $65 billion at the end of July, but investors are awaiting audited margins, compute expenses and customer-concentration data. The dispute has added governance and political scrutiny to questions about whether the company’s economics support its reported valuation.
