Albertsons appointed former eBay and Hewlett-Packard executive Meg Whitman as executive chair of its board, creating a new role as the grocery operator works to reverse falling sales and navigate cautious consumer spending. Whitman will act as an operations and strategic adviser to Chief Executive Susan Morris, helping refine long-term strategy, improve execution and drive profitable growth. She will also support the integration of AI technologies and efforts to provide customers with a unified shopping experience in stores and online. The board expanded to 11 members, while Kim Fennebresque moved from chair to lead independent director. Albertsons shares fell 3.27%.
