Jack Yi, founder of LD Capital and known for his losses in Ethereum, said the cryptocurrency market increasingly resembles the period before the strong bull run of 2020. He pointed to Bitcoin’s recent price action as evidence that its uptrend remains intact, despite a roughly 19-day correction that followed five consecutive days of gains. The correction, which began on August 22 after an uptrend starting on August 17, covered approximately $6,000, according to Yi. He described the pullback as a normal feature of an uptrend, warned investors against taking short positions during rising markets, and recommended monitoring daily-chart corrections and volatility. Yi also said bull-market signals were appearing in some altcoins and tokens on a regional scale. Separately, Bankless co-founder David Hoffman’s shift from Ethereum to altcoins has drawn attention after his selected holdings substantially outperformed ETH. Hoffman said in May that he had sold all his ETH and bought VVV, NEAR, ZEC, HYPE and LIT. Available data showed gains of 288% for LIT, 121% for ZEC, 55% for HYPE, 55% for VVV and 33% for NEAR, compared with an approximately 17% return for ETH over the same period.
