1inch co-founder Sergej Kunz said the company has never made a profit despite routing $809 billion in token swaps since its 2019 launch. The figure, read from an internal dashboard, exceeds third-party tracker totals but is below the company’s previously announced $814 billion figure and its $700 billion milestone for July 2025. 1inch processed $214 billion across roughly 114 million transactions in 2025, according to Dune Analytics data cited in the existing record. Kunz said DeFi remains too small to extract significant value without worsening user execution. The company launched Aqua publicly on July 28 across 13 blockchains to address fragmented liquidity. The protocol lets liquidity providers keep assets in wallets while one balance supports multiple trading pairs, with trades settled by compliance-checked market makers. Aqua had about $25 million committed on its first day after eight security audits, supported by incentives of 10 million 1INCH tokens and 500,000 USDC. 1inch has also expanded its routing through mainstream applications, including Coinbase’s non-custodial swap API and Robinhood’s Arbitrum-based Robinhood Chain. The company has about 140 employees and is using AI agents for routine server fixes, while Kunz said community and partnerships may offer a stronger advantage than technology alone.
