A crypto trader spent about $170,000 on 28,448.72 LAPTOP tokens at $5.97 each after Hunter Biden’s meme coin had plunged roughly 98% within its first hour. The position is now worth about $21,000 at $0.87 per token, an 87% loss from the purchase price, according to Lookonchain and a wallet tracked by DeBank. LAPTOP launched on Base and surged to $190.81 before falling as low as $3.70. It traded near $4.77 an hour after launch, briefly implying a valuation of about $1.6 billion against a $2.5 million liquidity pool, while Arkham found the pool held roughly $48,000 shortly after launch and the token’s fully diluted value briefly reached $144 billion. Hunter Biden built the token around the laptop he left at a Delaware repair shop in 2019, whose contents became the subject of years of political controversy. Founders including Biden hold 30% of the token’s one billion supply, locked for six months and vesting over two years. Other allocations include wallets burned by Trump’s coin and Biden’s Substack subscribers, plus a mailing list tied to video journalist Andrew Callaghan, who says he has no role in the project. Another trader spent $200,000 near LAPTOP’s peak and saw that position shrink to a few thousand dollars within hours.
