Huawei has raised the price of its Ascend 950DT AI accelerator to more than 250,000 yuan ($37,255), with reported increases ranging from 20% to 50% over quotations from two months earlier. An earlier report put the increase at roughly 60% over three months, indicating that pricing varies by timing, contract terms and order size. Huawei's Ascend 950PR and Ascend 910C have also risen to more than 80,000 yuan and 110,000 yuan, respectively. Availability for some models has been pushed to the fourth quarter of 2026 at the earliest. Cambricon has raised the price of its upcoming 690 chip by 20% to 30%, while MetaX and Iluvatar CoreX have made similar increases. The moves reflect a shortage of high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, after U.S. export restrictions took effect in December 2024 and Chinese buyers lost access to leading suppliers such as SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics. Chinese chipmakers are turning to costlier, less reliable grey-market supplies as global AI demand absorbs much of the major suppliers' 2026 output. Huawei is prioritizing major Chinese technology companies and AI infrastructure builders, while DeepSeek plans to deploy at least 160,000 top-end Huawei accelerators in Inner Mongolia. Iluvatar CoreX has doubled shipments to ByteDance to 100,000 GPU units by reallocating inventory from other customers.
