Hunter Biden’s $LAPTOP memecoin (cryptocurrency built around a trend or personality) fell as much as 98% from its opening levels after launching at 5 cents into heavy demand. The project attributed the collapse to sniper bots (automated programs that buy new tokens within seconds) and insufficient initial liquidity. It plans to deploy 4 million additional tokens, equal to 0.4% of total supply, to incentivise liquidity on Aerodrome pools from Sept. 10. Data from blockchain analytics firm Nansen recorded 46,675 buys and 16,038 sells over 24 hours, involving 20,085 buyers and 8,714 sellers. Among five wallets examined, one had a roughly $199,000 total loss, another was down about $118,000, and a third held approximately $13,000 in unrealised profit. Nansen valued $LAPTOP at about $720 million in market capitalisation and $2.1 billion on a fully diluted valuation basis, although thin liquidity can make those figures unreliable for newly launched tokens. The team denied insider advantages, citing the absence of a presale or allocations for investors, influencers and key opinion leaders, and said disclosures were published before trading began. It also said founders’ 30% allocation is locked for six months and vests over two years, while another 30% is linked to a predictions mechanism that burns tokens or sends them to charity depending on specified outcomes.
