Institutionalizing financial basic rights in South Korea could generate between ₩127.1095 trillion and ₩222.6308 trillion in economic ripple effects and create between 281,693 and 493,381 jobs, according to an analysis presented by Hansung University economics professor Kim Sang-bong. The framework covers basic counseling and debt adjustment, basic loans, basic insurance and basic savings for financially vulnerable people. Using input-output analysis, the study estimated final demand of ₩51.1674 trillion to ₩89.6191 trillion could produce effects of as much as 2.5 times the initial input. Kim said the system should connect access, recovery, self-reliance and asset formation, while Democratic Party of Korea Rep. Min Byung-duk said he would soon introduce the National Basic Financial Security Act. The legislative push comes amid ₩50 trillion to ₩60 trillion in principal tied to long-term delinquent debt.
