Novo Nordisk said on Thursday, Sept. 10, that China had approved its blockbuster weight-loss drug Wegovy as the first GLP-1 RA (glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist) treatment in the country for MASH (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis). The decision adds liver health to the areas supported by Wegovy evidence, alongside weight management and cardiovascular health, and further supports its use in managing obesity and related complications, the company said.
