MediaTek reported August consolidated revenue of NT$64.183 billion, about $2 billion, up 32.41% from July and 44.08% from a year earlier. The company’s traditional smartphone-chip business remains under pressure from softer global shipments, higher memory costs and Qualcomm’s competition, but its expanding relationship with Alphabet’s Google is driving a new AI growth strategy. MediaTek’s first Google-linked application-specific integrated circuit, or ASIC, is scheduled for mass production in the fourth quarter of 2026, and the company is targeting about $2 billion in AI-related revenue for the year. It aims to capture 10% to 15% or more of the projected $80 billion AI-accelerator market by 2027, with a second-generation ASIC planned for late 2027. Nvidia has invested up to $3.5 billion in MediaTek through convertible bonds and is collaborating with the company on AI initiatives, including the RTX Spark laptop GPU product line.
