Mastercard has launched Mastercard Wallet Pay, a global digital-wallet portfolio designed to improve interoperability among wallets, platforms and payment methods. The service supports contactless near-field communication (NFC), QR-code and online payments, while allowing wallet providers to introduce credit, debit or prepaid card programs and transfers between cards, wallets and accounts. Mastercard says digital-wallet users exceed 4.3 billion globally and are expected to surpass 6 billion by 2030. Wallet Pay operates across more than 200 countries and territories and 150 currencies, with access to hundreds of millions of acceptance and digital access points. Initial participants include Alipay+ partner wallets AlipayHK, Clip, GCash, KakaoPay, TNG eWallet and TrueMoney, alongside AXIAN, CRED, DaviPlata, Mercado Pago, MTN and TenPay Global. The launch builds on Mastercard’s wider digital-payments strategy, including stablecoin settlement and blockchain infrastructure.
