Macabacus report finds 62% of finance professionals saw AI errors reach clients

  • Macabacus published a report on AI adoption and verification in financial services.
  • 87% use AI daily or weekly, but only 23% have comprehensive safeguards.
  • 62% believe an AI error reached a client or internal decision-maker within 12 months.

Macabacus said its new report, GenAI for Financial Services: Speed and Verification, shows that artificial intelligence has become central to financial modeling and client presentation development, while oversight systems have not kept pace. The report found that 62% of respondents believe an AI-generated error reached a client or internal decision-maker during the past 12 months, and 46% said an error probably entered a deliverable undetected. Although 87% use AI daily or weekly for financial models and client presentations, only 23% have comprehensive safeguards covering approved tools, accuracy checks, brand compliance and review workflows. Confidence also varies by seniority: 43% of analysts and associates said AI increased their confidence in their work, compared with 29% of vice presidents, directors and managing directors. Macabacus said the report is based on a survey of its 75,000 users and analysis of conversations with hundreds of clients and prospective clients.
