Chemours, DuPont and Corteva have reached a $455 million settlement with North Carolina and 11 local entities over PFAS-related claims tied to Fayetteville Works and other alleged contamination, including aqueous film forming foam (AFFF). Payments will be made over 15 years. Chemours will fund 50% under the companies’ 2021 Memorandum of Understanding, with its share valued at approximately $180 million on a net present value basis and covered by existing accruals; about $50 million is expected over the next 12 months. The agreement assigns $18 million to alleged PFAS contamination unrelated to Fayetteville Works, counts as about $210 million of qualified spend under the MOU and satisfies future escrow contributions, including Chemours’ $50 million payment due in September 2026. Chemours shares rose 1.53% to $15.27 on Thursday despite broader market and materials-sector declines, though the stock remained below key moving averages.
