Spark Finance will fully deprecate SparkLend on Gnosis Chain on September 14, 2026, ending a deployment launched in September 2023 as the protocol’s first expansion beyond Ethereum. New deposits and borrowing were frozen in early 2026, while the reserve factor was raised to 50% across all supported assets to encourage users to close positions. Once a Sky governance spell (on-chain protocol change) executes, outstanding loans will become eligible for liquidation (forced collateral sale), including positions that become undercollateralized or remain open after the deadline. Users are advised to repay loans, withdraw collateral and leave the deployment before the spell executes. Spark said the Gnosis market generated negligible revenue compared with its Ethereum counterpart, while maintaining a separate deployment in a low-liquidity environment required resources and created risk without sufficient returns. The decision follows similar risk-reduction measures taken against certain Ethereum-based assets earlier in 2026, although Spark has left open the possibility of returning if Gnosis market conditions improve materially.
