OpenAI has temporarily stopped accepting new subscribers for ChatGPT Pro 20x, its most expensive consumer plan at $200 per month. Existing subscribers can continue using the service without interruption, while the $20 ChatGPT Plus plan remains available. Pro 20x provides 20 times Plus’s messaging limits and enhanced access to OpenAI’s most advanced models and tools, including GPT-5. OpenAI launched its first ChatGPT Pro plan in December 2024 and introduced a $100 monthly mid-tier in 2026 with five times Plus’s usage limits. The company has previously paused signups when demand strained its infrastructure, including after the 2023 DevDay event. Community forums have also reported billing synchronization problems and usage-limit reset issues, particularly during newer-model rollouts. OpenAI has given no official date for reopening Pro 20x purchases; previous pauses generally lasted days to weeks rather than months.
