Universal Music Group is partnering with ElevenLabs on a standalone AI music platform that will let fans create remixes, mashups and personalized vocal experiences using licensed music from participating UMG artists. The opt-in model is designed to preserve artists’ and songwriters’ control while creating potential new revenue opportunities. Announced on September 10, the multi-year agreement is ElevenLabs’ first collaboration with a major record label. ElevenLabs, founded in 2022, was valued at $11 billion after raising $500 million in February 2026, up from $6.6 billion the previous year. The initiative expands the company’s focus beyond its Music API and ElevenMusic app toward a direct-to-fan product. It adds to UMG’s broader strategy of pursuing licensed AI partnerships, including its settlement with Udio and a separate platform targeted for 2026, as the label seeks to address copyright concerns while developing new forms of artist-fan engagement.
