Stablecoin payments infrastructure provider BVNK and card-issuing platform Marqeta (NASDAQ: MQ) partnered on Sept. 9 to offer stablecoin-backed card capabilities to crypto-native and non-crypto companies. The integration will let Marqeta customers add stablecoin features to wallets, cards and everyday financial products, enabling users to spend digital dollars at millions of merchants through standard payment cards. Marqeta will manage card issuance, acceptance, and bank and network relationships, while BVNK will provide infrastructure for moving and managing stablecoins alongside traditional fiat currencies. Marqeta processed nearly $400 billion in annual payments volume during 2025, while BVNK said it supports more than $39 billion in annualized payment volume. The collaboration also connects Marqeta to Mastercard’s network and could give customers access to additional Mastercard capabilities through the same integration. The companies support Open USD, a global stablecoin standard, and said the partnership reflects stablecoins’ expansion beyond crypto-native applications into broader financial-services infrastructure. BVNK cited research showing that 77% of surveyed crypto holders would open a stablecoin wallet through their primary bank or fintech app if one were available. The deal follows similar efforts to connect stablecoins with card networks, including Visa’s work linking onchain lending to stablecoin card financing.
