Nu, the Nubank-owned digital bank serving more than 140 million customers across Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, has partnered with Swiss digital asset bank Sygnum to operate Nu Global, its multi-currency account for international customers. Launched Sept. 10 alongside Nu's U.S. expansion, Nu Global enables customers to hold and trade stablecoins, Bitcoin and Ethereum, transfer funds across more than 35 countries, and earn variable yields on USDC and EURC balances. Sygnum provides custody, trading and fiat-to-crypto conversion infrastructure, while a Swiss bank guarantee covers customer assets held through Nu Global AG. The arrangement contrasts with Brazil's Resolution BCB 561, which from Oct. 1 prohibits regulated electronic FX providers from using stablecoins or other cryptoassets to settle the offshore portion of cross-border transfers. Nu is exempt under a separate framework for licensed banks and virtual asset service providers.
