AbbVie shares rose after the company reported positive Phase 3 results for atogepant, marketed as QULIPTA/AQUIPTA, in the LUNA trial for the preventive treatment of menstrual migraine in adults. The intermittent seven-day dosing schedule per cycle met the primary endpoint and all eight ranked secondary endpoints with high statistical significance. Atogepant reduced perimenstrual migraine days by 1.20 days on average, compared with 0.40 days for placebo, for a net reduction of 0.80 days, while improving acute medication use, headache burden, cognitive function and functional disability. No treatment is currently approved specifically for menstrual migraine, and AbbVie plans global regulatory submissions based on the data. The company also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $1.73 per share, payable November 16 to stockholders of record October 15. AbbVie completed its $10.9 billion cash acquisition of Apogee Therapeutics on Sept. 3, adding the late-stage IL-13 antibody zumilokibart to its immunology platform. Management said the deal would reduce 2026 earnings by 14 cents per share but reaffirmed adjusted diluted EPS guidance of $13.87 to $14.07. AbbVie generated $30.406 billion in immunology revenue in 2025, up 14.0%, while Eli Lilly and Boehringer Ingelheim are pursuing separate investments in autoimmune-drug technology and AI-led research.
