Eastar Jet and Fliggy target Chinese tourism to South Korea

  • Eastar Jet and Fliggy signed an agreement to attract Chinese visitors to South Korea.
  • 204%: Foreign passengers on Eastar Jet's Greater China routes rose year over year.
  • Eastar Jet signed a separate Korea Tourism Organization agreement in April.

Eastar Jet signed a memorandum of understanding with Fliggy, Alibaba Group's online travel platform, to attract more Chinese visitors to South Korea and expand regional tourism demand. The companies will increase China-to-Korea air-ticket sales, conduct joint promotions and distribute Eastar Jet and Korean travel content through Fliggy's China-focused channels, including live commerce and influencer marketing. Eastar Jet will supply tickets for routes to Incheon, Jeju, Busan, Cheongju and Daegu, while Fliggy will market the airline and regional tourism content to more than 500 million members. The agreement was signed at Fliggy's Hangzhou headquarters on September 10 and announced on September 11. It follows Eastar Jet's April agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization and comes as foreign passengers on its Greater China routes rose 204% year over year from January to August, accounting for 70.1% of passengers. Foreign travelers represented an average 98% of passengers on the Jeju-Shanghai route.
