Tesla China launched the Model Y all-wheel-drive Performance version on September 11 at 369,000 yuan, approximately $54,450, making it the most expensive of five Model Y configurations in the country. Deliveries are expected within two to six weeks. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, reaches 250 km/h and offers a CLTC range of 659 kilometers. It uses a 78.4-kWh battery supplied by LG Energy Solution’s Chinese division, with dual motors producing 176 kW at the front and 291 kW at the rear. Charging at up to 250 kW can add about 250 kilometers in 15 minutes, although BYD and other Chinese competitors advertise faster systems, including 500 kilometers of range in 10 minutes. The launch follows a September 7 promotion offering 10,000 yuan off eligible Model Y inventory vehicles delivered by September 30, alongside earlier complaints over abrupt discounts and Model Y L rear-end sagging. Tesla delivered 29,260 Model Ys in China in August, down 25.8% from a year earlier and marking a third consecutive monthly decline. Model Y deliveries fell 6.1% to 226,931 in the first eight months of 2026, while Tesla’s total China deliveries declined 12.4% to 316,251 vehicles. TipRanks lists a Moderate Buy consensus for TSLA, with an average price target of $377.08, while the shares are down 19.2% year to date.
