Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, is projected to ship about 5 million units in 2026 and capture 24.8% of the global foldable smartphone market, according to TrendForce. That would make Apple the sector’s second-largest brand behind Samsung, which is forecast to ship 7.1 million units for a 35.1% share, while Huawei is projected to match Apple at about 5 million units and a 24.8% share. Global foldable smartphone shipments are expected to reach 20.2 million units, up 0.5% from the previous year, as component costs drive a more than 20% decline in Android shipments excluding Apple. The $1,999 device, scheduled for release on Oct. 23 after Oct. 16 preorders, was introduced at new CEO John Ternus’ first major event, where he placed the iPhone and Apple’s artificial-intelligence strategy at the center of the company’s direction. Apple shares rose 2.47% to $334.62 on Friday.
