SFL Corporation Ltd. has agreed to extend by seven years the charters for six 15,400-TEU container vessels with Hapag-Lloyd AG. The vessels will remain covered through 2035-2036 at firm rates, reflecting the current strong container market. The contracts add approximately $750 million to SFL’s fixed-rate charter backlog, lifting it to about $4.6 billion. Ole B. Hjertaker, CEO of SFL Management AS, said the extensions strengthen SFL’s long-term relationship with Hapag-Lloyd, described as the world’s fifth-largest container line, and reinforce the company’s earnings visibility and long-term distribution capacity. SFL said it has added more than $1 billion to its charter backlog during 2026. The company has paid quarterly dividends since its 2004 New York Stock Exchange listing and operates a diversified fleet spanning tankers, bulkers, container vessels, car carriers and offshore drilling rigs.
