Jump Crypto’s Firedancer team plans to retire Frankendancer when Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade activates on mainnet in October 2026. Frankendancer has combined Firedancer’s networking and block-production components with Agave’s runtime and consensus layers since September 2024, but the full Firedancer client has been live since December 2025. Alpenglow will replace Solana’s current Proof of History and Tower BFT consensus combination with Votor, targeting finality of approximately 150 milliseconds versus about 12.8 seconds today. Feature gates are expected in late September, with validators running Frankendancer expected to migrate to full Firedancer or Agave before activation.
