Nscale has appointed Fidji Simo to its board as the U.K.-based AI infrastructure company prepares for an anticipated IPO this fall. Simo was formerly CEO of AGI Deployment at OpenAI, effectively the AI lab’s No. 2 executive, and left in July citing health reasons; she continues to advise OpenAI part time. She previously chaired and led Instacart through its 2023 IPO and spent more than a decade at Meta, including as head of the Facebook app. Simo also serves on Shopify’s board. She joins Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker and Nick Clegg on Nscale’s board. Founder and CEO Josh Payne said Simo’s experience scaling products used by billions of people would help Nscale address the demands of large AI systems while adding financial and operational depth to the board. The company is seeking up to $3.5 billion ahead of a planned listing, according to Bloomberg, and was valued at $14.6 billion after a March 2026 funding round. Nscale designs, builds and operates AI data centers and provides GPU cloud services. Its contracted revenue rose from approximately $51 billion to around $103 billion after a roughly $45 billion, six-year agreement with Anthropic for 460 megawatts from a West Virginia facility expected to begin operations at the end of 2027. Existing reporting had placed a possible U.S. listing as early as September 2026, while the latest announcement describes the IPO as anticipated this fall.
