Canal+ and LaLiga have signed an anti-piracy agreement covering nearly 50 countries where Canal+ broadcasts LaLiga. The partnership will combine their anti-piracy technology and involve joint investigations and lobbying. Financial terms were not disclosed. Canal+ Chief Executive Maxime Saada said the immediate priority was to bring the companies’ teams together, while LaLiga President Javier Tebas said the agreement had been months in development and would improve responses to rapidly changing criminal networks. Piracy threatens clubs’ audiovisual-rights income, with broadcast revenue at Spanish professional clubs falling 5.2% to 1.43 billion euros ($1.66 billion) in 2024/25. Commercial revenue reached 1.58 billion euros and became the largest income source. Saada estimated that piracy in France destroys 1.5 billion euros in value and costs the state several hundred million euros in tax revenue annually.
