U.S. stocks rebounded on the 11th, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite snapping four-session losing streaks. The Dow rose 547.07 points, or 1.05%, to 52,611.17 in afternoon trading; the Nasdaq gained 1.15% to 26,382.82 and the S&P 500 advanced 1.02% to 7,669.44. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 2.25% to 11,875.44, while 26 of the 30 Dow components advanced and Nasdaq gainers outnumbered decliners 1,756 to 1,282. Oil prices reversed sharply lower after surging on Middle East tensions, encouraging broad-based bargain hunting. WTI crude fell 2.07% to $100.36 a barrel after touching $98.48, while Brent declined 2.74% to $104.68; both remained up roughly 8% for the week. August CPI rose 0.4% month over month and 3.4% year over year, with core CPI up 0.3% monthly and 2.4% annually. The core reading was slightly above forecasts, but weaker oil prices limited the inflation impact on equities. The two-year Treasury yield rose to 4.63%, its highest since July 2024, as futures priced an 85.6% chance of a 0.25 percentage-point FOMC rate hike next week.
