Adventist Health White Memorial and Adventist Health White Memorial Montebello generate more than $1.2 billion in annual economic activity and support approximately 5,500 jobs across Los Angeles County, a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) found. The nonprofit, faith-based hospitals serve more than 2.4 million residents across their combined primary and secondary service areas and operate in communities facing significant health, economic and environmental disparities. About 86% of White Memorial’s payor mix comes from Medi-Cal and Medicare, while 14.4% of residents in its Primary Service Area are uninsured, compared with 7.6% across Los Angeles County. The study examined direct hospital operations, supply-chain activity, employee spending, fiscal effects and community conditions. Hospital leaders and regional business and healthcare advocates said the institutions support local businesses, employment and healthcare access. The Adventist Health White Memorial Foundation is seeking help from philanthropic partners, community leaders and other stakeholders to sustain access to care and community investment.
