Mecka AI is nearing a funding round at a valuation of about $500 million, just three months after announcing a $60 million financing led by Framework Ventures. Sequoia Capital is expected to lead the new round, although its size and terms remain unsettled. The startup, founded in 2024 by Josh Gao, Mogen Cheng, Jason Chong and Duy Nguyen, collects first-person human-motion data through body sensors and smartphones to train humanoid and other general-purpose robots. Mecka pays people to record everyday activities such as making coffee and repairing cars, building the physical-world datasets that robotics companies and AI labs use alongside teleoperation data. The company has not disclosed its customer list but projected a $100 million annual run rate by the end of 2026. Mecka previously raised $25 million in a November 2025 Series A and a $35 million extension in June 2026, according to the existing funding record, while the latest account describes that prior financing as a $60 million round. Other companies pursuing robot-training data include XDOF, which was nearing a $1.2 billion valuation, as well as Scale AI and Micro1.
