An unnamed whale spent 85.42 million USDC over four days to acquire 1,075.6 BTC at an average price of $79,412, including about $170,000 in fees paid to THORChain for cross-chain swaps. The wallet first converted 14 million USDC into 179.8 BTC near $78,955, then used another 60.37 million USDC to expand the position to 767.8 BTC before completing the accumulation. With Bitcoin near $77,200, the position was about $2.35 million underwater. The trade followed the wallet’s sale of 50,600 ETH at an average $2,921 in late 2025, which generated roughly $19.02 million in realized profit. The wallet then remained in stablecoins for eight months, leaving $74.32 million unspent after the Bitcoin purchases. Traders are pricing a strong chance of a Federal Reserve rate increase at the Sept. 15-16 meeting, creating a near-term test for the whale’s strategy.
