Coinbase has expanded its Base-based tokenized-equity market from four technology stocks to 10 assets, including SpaceX, as it seeks to build an all-in-one trading platform spanning crypto, stablecoins, yield products and equities. Cumulative decentralized-exchange volume for the original four tokens surpassed $228 million during their first month, while daily trading later reached roughly $100 million. The tokens, which carry a "c" suffix, are designed to represent 1:1 claims on underlying shares held in regulated custody by Alpaca under Abu Dhabi Global Market oversight. Coinbase says the structure provides true equity ownership rather than synthetic price exposure. Built on the company’s B20 standard, the assets can interact with DeFi protocols, serve as collateral and distribute dividends automatically. The products are offered under Regulation S and remain unavailable to U.S. users. Coinbase initially launched Nvidia, Apple, Meta and Alphabet tokens on Aug. 24, then added Amazon, Microsoft, Tesla, SpaceX, SanDisk and MasterCard on Sept. 4. SPCXc generated roughly $6.6 million in one day, while Aerodrome handled more than 77% of tokenized-equity DEX volume on Base. Kraken and Robinhood are also developing tokenized-stock products, leaving Coinbase to build overseas liquidity while the U.S. regulatory framework remains unresolved.
