Anthropic has signed a six-year, $13.7 billion computing contract with RUM Group for capacity at a data center under development in Maysville, Georgia, The Information reported. The agreement includes options for Anthropic to buy up to 51 million RUM Group shares at $0.01 each, with exercisable amounts tied to its actual computing purchases. RUM entered AI infrastructure through its approximately $767 million all-stock acquisition of Northern Data, gaining about 22,000 Nvidia Hopper GPUs and forming the Quake AI division. Quake AI is operating at more than 85% capacity utilization, while CEO Christopher Pavlovski has said 250 megawatts of deployed infrastructure could generate more than $3 billion in annual revenue. RUM shares initially surged nearly 20% in overnight trading following the report before retreating as investors focused on potential dilution from plans to acquire the remaining Northern Data ownership using newly issued equity. The Maysville site has 120 megawatts of available power capacity and is planned to expand to 180 megawatts, though RUM has said it needs further debt and equity financing for construction and equipment.
