Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is using a two-day Toronto investment summit to advance discussions on more than 160 projects and attract C$1 trillion ($721 billion) over five years as tariffs strain Canada's dependence on the United States. About 100 global investors and roughly 300 CEOs and senior investment executives are participating or attending, representing firms managing more than C$120 trillion in assets. The projects span mining, energy, technology, defense, transportation and infrastructure, with major deals expected to take 12 to 18 months. Canada is also pursuing a unique strategic alliance with the European Union short of membership and stronger commercial ties with partners in the Middle East and Asia.
