Ripple is positioning its RLUSD stablecoin for institutional payments and corporate treasury operations, using a customer base whose annual transactions total roughly $13 trillion. Stablecoin Chief Jack McDonald described the volume as a massive opportunity, while stressing that it represents customers’ existing transaction activity rather than projected RLUSD volume. Ripple is also using the Ripple Treasury platform, acquired through GTreasury and associated with around 1,200 corporate clients, to expand into payments and capital markets. The strategy could connect RLUSD with cross-border payments, liquidity management, internal transfers and settlement processes, alongside Ripple’s existing relationships with payments firms and banks. Thinking Crypto host Tony Edward linked the plan to continued XRP Ledger development and discussed Clearpool Finance’s proposed migration under new XRPL institutional credit standards, as well as Ripple’s commitment to XRP and RLUSD yield products. The discussion also covered the Senate’s scheduled Sept. 15 vote on the CLARITY Act, ongoing talks involving White House crypto director Patrick Whitt and billionaire investor Mike Novogratz, and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong’s view that the bill was near completion. Edward said passage could improve sentiment, support a sharp Bitcoin rally and establish broader U.S. crypto-market rules.
