Anthropic reported preliminary second-quarter 2026 revenue above $11.5 billion and $559 million in adjusted operating income, exceeding its $10.9 billion internal projection and marking its first quarter with positive adjusted operating income. The Financial Times separately reported that Anthropic told shareholders adjusted operating income would remain positive for a second straight quarter, with gross margins above 80% before payments to distribution partners and model-training costs. Reuters could not immediately verify that report. Revenue rose from $787 million in the second quarter of 2025 and $4.73 billion in the first quarter of 2026, while compute costs fell from 71 cents to 56 cents per revenue dollar. Anthropic’s quarterly revenue was nearly twice OpenAI’s $6.7 billion, reflecting its enterprise coding and agentic-workflow focus. The company is being discussed as a potential IPO candidate as early as October 2026, with private-market valuations in the hundreds of billions of dollars.
