Binance released guidance on Sept. 14 identifying rug pulls, a form of digital-asset fraud involving sudden liquidity removal or large insider token sales, and outlined checks for investors. The exchange said investors should examine insiders’ ability to withdraw liquidity, token ownership concentration, unusual changes in price, trading volume and holder counts, and promises of guaranteed returns or pressure to buy immediately. It warned that wash trading, manipulated holder counts, verified smart contracts, locked liquidity, large communities and high trading volume do not independently establish a project’s credibility or prevent insiders from selling tokens. Binance also advised checking token contract addresses through official project channels to avoid copycat tokens, and said on-chain security systems should be treated as supplementary rather than conclusive evidence of safety.
