Serenity said the probability that Anthropic and OpenAI will genuinely slow frontier AI development is basically zero. The post argued that some regulatory measures promoted by leading AI companies may instead raise barriers to entry and constrain competitors. OpenAI and Anthropic are unlikely to voluntarily surrender their lead to Gemini, xAI or Meta, while continued AI investment worldwide makes a substantial U.S. slowdown difficult. Competition for scarce memory and AI chips remains intense, and Serenity rejected expectations that Nvidia, TSMC and Micron shares will therefore suffer steep declines. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for a slower pace of model-capability improvements to give companies more time for model alignment (training models to follow intended goals) and safety safeguards, without stopping training or technological progress. OpenAI founder Sam Altman agreed that the development of frontier models should be controlled and said OpenAI would consider giving independent evaluators employee-like access.
