LG AI Research has unveiled a full lineup of Expert AI systems built on its proprietary EXAONE model for manufacturing, science and finance. The strategy moves beyond general-purpose AI toward agentic AI (systems that act independently), enabling models to predict, judge and execute changes in industrial environments. At the LG AI Talk Concert 2026, held September 14 at LG Science Park in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, the institute presented EXAONE Omni Inspect, a quality-inspection model that identifies defects without separate retraining when processes or product images change. It plans to combine the system with EXAONE Tabular, which interprets process conditions and quality data to predict changes. LG AI Research is also developing a vision inspection agent that can sample data, apply labels and train models independently, with the longer-term goal of combining it with the Robot Foundation Model to support autonomous factories. In science, EXAONE Discovery is being used for materials design and synthesis-result prediction. LG AI Research and LG Chem plan to establish an autonomous chemistry materials laboratory in which robots and AI design materials, predict synthesis outcomes and conduct experiments. In collaboration with LG Household & Health Care, the institute reviewed 420,000 candidate substances and discovered Ramsidil, a hair loss mitigation substance, in one day. Other projects include a next-generation oral peptide drug with D&D Pharmatech, liquid immersion cooling oil materials for AI data centers with GS Caltex, and an AI for new drug reviews at South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety based on EXAONE 4.5. In finance, EXAONE Business Intelligence uses multiple AI agents to analyze data, reason, predict and explain results, while EXAONE Forecast provides the basis for predictions involving changing information. Since its official launch earlier this year, EXAONE BI has pursued global market entry with the London Stock Exchange Group and expanded domestically with Koscom and South Korea's National Pension Service. LG plans to extend it beyond equities to bonds and commodities. LG AI Research said it has filed 1,080 patents, had 368 papers accepted and solved more than 100 industrial challenges since launching in December 2020. Its stated mission is to move from AI that understands industrial problems to systems that can judge and act independently, while LG plans to make the EXAONE series Expert AI for everyone.
